Struck on a perfectly centered flan, this copy is in a very rare state of preservation!
Despite the slight weakness of striking on the angel's chest, the details of the archangel are superb. The feathers of the wings are perfectly detailed, the engraving of the canopy is in perfect condition and extremely precise. Finally, the details of the engraving of the defeated dragon are stunning by their precision.
The reverse, where the weakness of the strike is also visible, is however perfectly preserved, especially for the leaves at the end of the arms of the cross, whose small details are impressive. France, Philippe VI, Ange d'Or, 1341, 1st emission, Duplessy : 255., L'archange Saint-Michel debout sous un baldaquin qui termine un polylobe coupé en bas, couronné, tenant une croix à la longue hampe posée sur la tête d'un dragon gisant sous ses pieds, et l'écu de France aux trois lis., Croix quadrilobée, feuillue et fleuronnée, dans un quadrilobe fleurdelisée accostée de quatre couronnelles., Ange d'or absolument exceptionnel ! Frappé sur un flan parfaitement centré, cet exemplaire est dans un état de conservation rarissime !
Malgré la légère faiblesse de frappe au niveau de la poitrine, les détails de l'archange sont superbes. Les plumes des ailes sont parfaitement détaillées, la gravure du baldaquin est en parfait état et extrêmement précise. Enfin, les détails de la gravure du dragon vaincu sont bluffant par leur précision.
Le revers, ayant lui aussi subit la faiblesse de la frappe, est cependant parfaitement conservé, notamment au niveau des feuillages au bout des bras de la croix, dont les petits détails sont impressionnant.
